Gas Furnace Ratings

If you have to replace your gas furnace, you may be wondering who has the best furnace. Truthfully, there really is no way to test the furnace for a rating.  Manufacturers do not have a way to test the furnaces within a factory setting because different designs and household layouts can contribute to the way that a furnace runs.  There are many factors that go into a furnace’s performance that cannot be reproduced in laboratory settings.

However, you can look at the quality and features of the different furnaces as well as the company. The features are often what make a furnace have a high rating.  Obviously, if you do not have good features such as the double blower on your furnace you will not have the effect s that the double blower will produce.

Since, the furnace’s performance is completely dependent on the installation itself, customer reviews would be the best thing to look at when dealing with ratings, quality and performance.  The AFUE is the second best gas furnace rating to go by.

An AFUE rating is the percentage of efficiency that the furnace will have upon your pocket.  This rating is based purely on how much energy it saves.  This rating sometimes can be inaccurate, especially if you are not following the size rule.  If your furnace is too big for your home, you will not have a good efficiency rating even though the rating is supposed to be high in efficiency.  Yet again, it is always best to seek a contractor’s opinion about size and even style for your home.

If you want to know about other’s opinions of a furnace seek customer reviews.  Many consumers rate Trane gas furnaces as the best furnaces because of the high performance and high quality manufacturing.  Trane’s machines are manufactured to work at the highest quality possible without early break downs.  This company is also rated high because not only do they stand behind their product but they also have their customer’s in mind.

Rheem is rated lowest as far as gas furnace ratings go.  Their focus is so much on the consumer that the qualities of their furnaces are often forgotten about.  Even with rebates and free shipping and handling, it is amazing that this company even makes money.

There really is no way of rating a gas furnace but you can rate one yourself based on what the contractor says as well as other consumers.  If you plan to buy a gas furnace, some research will have to go into the financial decision.
